Season 1 Episode 15 \u2013 Windrows<\/h3>

Welcome to the final episode of the Outback Safer Driving series.<\/p>

Quite often on outback dirt roads, gravel roads, we see what\u2019s called a windrow, which is a raised dirt strip running down the road. \u00a0<\/p>

Some windrows are caused by a grader, but quite often we see them caused by just the wheel tracks.<\/p>

This is formed by the movement of the dirt from the tyres they’ve built up between the wheel tracks.<\/p>

If you’ve got plenty of visibility ahead of you and the road conditions are poor, stay exactly where you are in the middle of the road. This gives you good clearance for wildlife coming from either side and avoids hazards near the edge of the road.<\/p>

But if you are coming up to a corner or if you’re coming up to a crest you have to move over<\/p>

to your side of the road. Slow down. Take it easy crossing the windrow and stay safe.<\/p>
