Welcome to the Outback Safer Driving Series
There are so many spectacular destinations to visit along the Sturt’s Steps Touring Route and all of them are accessible to travellers who are keen for adventure and well prepared.
However, traveling through this region can present a number of challenges, including isolation, remote travel, poor or no mobile phone coverage, long distances between destinations, changing road conditions, and a number of other hazards.
Preparation for traveling into this region starts well before you leave home. In this series, we will explore trip preparation, driving habits for both bitumen and unsealed roads, towing and the extra stresses that that entails, and share some tips with you as to some of the common hazards that may present themselves throughout your journey.
